On September 25, 2009 in Minsk Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill met with President of the Republic of Belarus Aliaksandr Lukashenka. During the meeting the Patriarch noted "very good and positive level of mutual relations among different confessions" in Belarus. According to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Belarus — is the country with orthodox majority, however here other denominations are present. Good relations among various religions promote humanization of the society. Patriarch Kirill underlined the importance of consolidation but not division; in this respect Belarus is a fine example. The Orthodox hierarch paid attention to the fact that in our country "there is peace and no intensity." And that "our nation is united by single system of values", and "preservation of these Christian values, which are basic, ability to protect them and readiness for a dialogue — are characteristics of our modern country, which doesn’t wish to refuse from its roots." "A visit to Belarus will provide me with one more chance to touch the life of Belarusian people", added Patriarch Kirill. According to Interfax-religion.ru |
