On November 15th, 2008 a ceremony of laying of a capsule with remains of Guy Picarda, the famous researcher of history of Belarusian ecclesiastical music and specialist on Belarus took place in the crypt of the St. Symon and Alena Church in Minsk within the framework of the symposium “Word of God – live and effectual”. The holy mass was held by Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, Metropolitan of Minsk and Mahilyow together with Archimandrite Siarhei Hayek, Apostolic visitator to the Greek Catholics of Belarus. The homily was delivered by Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz >>> Guy Picarda was a permanent member within the jury of the International Christian festival of spiritual music “God Almighty”. Being a specialist on Belarus and researcher of Belarusian culture he was decorated with a Frantsisk Skaryna order. Numerous articles devoted to Frantsisk Skaryna and the symbolism of his creations, as well as reviews placed in London quarterly magazine “The Byelorussian Studies” come to the pen of the great devotee of Belarusian language and poetry. Guy Picarda was also engaged in publishing of a magazine about Belarusian culture “The Byelorussian Chronic”. However, during the life of the researcher, his main work - the collection “Golden Belarus” – was not published. In his testament Guy Pickarda expressed a wish to be buried in one of Minsk’s shrines.
