Bishop of Vitebsk
Wladyslaw Blin was born on May 31, 1954. After graduation from the Major Seminary in Vlatslavek he was ordained priest on May 25, 1980. Wladyslaw Blin studied at the Lublin Catholic University and at the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw. In 1989 he returned to Belarus, the native land of his parents, and began to work as dean of the Cathedral of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Mohilev. In 1992 he founded the International Ecumenical Festival "God Almighty".
In 1998 Wladyslaw Blin took his degree of doctor of Theology.
On October 13, 1999, the Pope John Paul II decreed him bishop of the diocese of Vitebsk. Wladyslaw Blin was ordained bishop on November 20, 1999.
Bishop Wladyslaw Blin is head of the Ecumenical Commission as well as of the Commission for Common Pastoral Work of the Episcopate in Belarus.
On the 14th of June 2006 he was elected the Vice-chairman of the Conference of the Catholic Bishops in Belarus.
