Bishop of Grodno
Aleksander Kaszkiewicz was born on September 23, 1949 in the village of Padgaida of the parish of Eishyshki, the archdiocese of Vilnius.
After graduation from the Major Seminary in Kaunas he was ordained priest on May 30, 1976. In 1976-1981 F. Kaszkiewicz worked as priest vicar in Paniavezhys. In 1981 he became dean of the parish of the Holy Ghost in Vilnius. On April 13, 1991 the Holy Father decreed him bishop of the newly created diocese of Grodno. Aleksander Kaszkiewicz was ordained bishop on May 23, 1991.
Besides he heads the Council for the Pastoral Care of the Youth as well as the Council for Catholic Education.
On the 14th of June 2006 he was elected the Chairman of the Conference of the Catholic Bishops in Belarus.
